Acre Geoglyphs
More than 450 geometric earthworks - squares, circles, hexagons - cut into the ground across the western Amazon rainforest of Acre, Brazil, revealed as forest was cleared for cattle ranching; direct evidence that the 'pristine' Amazon was extensively shaped by pre-Columbian societies.
