Cueva de los Tayos
Deep cave on the eastern Andean slope of Ecuador, entered by a 65 m shaft. Juan Móricz claimed a library of inscribed metal books inside; Erich von Däniken made it famous as evidence of visitors from elsewhere. The 1976 expedition that went to check - Neil Armstrong among them - found burials and polished passages, and no library.
