Stone Spheres of the Diquís
Over 300 near-perfect stone spheres, up to 2.6m across, carved by the pre-Columbian Diquís culture on Costa Rica's southern Pacific delta between 500 and 1500 CE - shaped without metal tools to a precision that still defies full explanation, and arranged in mounds and paved plazas that reveal the social organisation of chiefdom societies.
