Gilman Stone Money Bank
A traditional rai (stone money) bank on Yap Island, Micronesia, where giant calcite discs - some over 3 metres across - stand as they have for centuries. The stones were quarried some 400km away on Palau, ferried to Yap by raft, and never moved again once placed: ownership changed hands, not the stone itself, a system Milton Friedman cited as a mirror of modern reserve banking.
