Hwaseong Fortress
Walled city built at Suwon in under three years by King Jeongjo, to honour his executed father and to prepare a move of the capital. Designed by the Silhak scholar Chŏng Yagyong with cranes and pulleys of his own devising, and documented so exactly that the record allowed a faithful rebuild after war damage.
