Kanowna
A ghost town in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, about 20 km east of Kalgoorlie. Gold found in 1893 turned it into a town of over 12,500 people within six years; when the alluvial gold ran out it emptied, and by 1953 it was abandoned. A hidden ore body found in the 1980s brought mining back.
