Complex of Koguryo Tombs
North Korea's first UNESCO World Heritage Site: around 30 stone burial chambers near Pyongyang and Nampo from the later Goguryeo kingdom (3rd century BCE-7th century CE), including some of only 90 known Goguryeo tombs (out of over 10,000 found across Korea and China) that preserve elaborate wall murals - portraits, daily life, mythical beings and decorative motifs painted directly onto plastered burial-chamber walls.
