Kōtoku-in Great Buddha
Bronze Amida Buddha of 1252 at Kamakura, 13.35 m and 121 tonnes, sitting in the open. The hall that sheltered it was swept away by the tsunami of the 1498 Meiō earthquake and never rebuilt, so the statue has weathered five centuries of open sky.
