Kuahuqiao Site
Early Neolithic settlement near Hangzhou, China, built around 6000 BCE beside a shallow bay of the Lower Yangzi. Yielded the oldest known dugout canoe in China, an 8,000-year-old pine-log boat, alongside cultivated rice remains that pushed the region's farming history back a thousand years. Likely abandoned when rising sea levels flooded the settlement around 7,550 years ago. Now the site of the Kuahuqiao Site Museum, built over the excavation.
