Laas Geel
A complex of rock shelters near Hargeisa, Somaliland, holding some of the best-preserved and oldest rock art in Africa - vividly coloured Neolithic paintings of domesticated cattle, herders and wildlife that provide the oldest known evidence of cattle domestication in the Horn of Africa. Discovered only in 2002, the site remained undocumented for millennia despite its exceptional preservation.
