Larnach Castle
A castellated Victorian mansion on a ridge of the Otago Peninsula above Dunedin, designed by R. A. Lawson for the banker and politician William Larnach. Building began in 1871 and craftsmen finished the interior over many years. After Larnach's suicide in 1898 and disputes over his will the family sold it, and the house decayed until Barry and Margaret Barker bought and restored it from 1967.
