Mahasthangarh
Fortified city in northern Bangladesh, the ancient Pundranagara and the earliest urban site known in the country. A limestone slab found here carries a Mauryan land-grant decree in Prakrit, and eighteen archaeological layers record continuous occupation from the 3rd century BCE into the 12th century CE.
