Mawangdui Han Tombs
Three Western Han tombs under two saddle-shaped mounds in Changsha, Hunan, China, excavated 1972-74: the chancellor Li Cang, first Marquis of Dai (d. 186 BC), his wife Xin Zhui (Lady Dai, 217-168 BC) and a man who died in 168 BC. Lady Dai's body was so well preserved that an autopsy was possible, her nested lacquer coffins held a painted T-shaped silk funeral banner, and the tombs yielded silk manuscripts - versions of the Daodejing, medical texts, maps - and garments now in the Hunan Museum. Coordinates: Wikidata 28.2086/113.0217; the OSM 'Mawangdui' node is a metro station 700 m away.
