Forty-four pit-houses have been excavated along with a wooden palisade, and the site gives its name to the Songguk-ri type that spread across the southern peninsula and influenced Yayoi Japan. Excavation began in 1975 and has continued in campaigns by branches of the National Museum of Korea.
