Taman Sari (Water Castle)
Taman Sari is the former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, built for Sultan Hamengkubuwono I next to the kraton. It held pools, pavilions, artificial lakes, an underground mosque and tunnels, about 59 buildings in all. War damage in 1812 and an earthquake in 1867 ruined much of it, and only the bathing complex has been fully restored.
