Tsodilo Hills
Four quartzite hills rising from the Kalahari in north-western Botswana, dubbed the 'Louvre of the Desert' for holding over 4,500 rock paintings across roughly 400 sites - fine-line hunter-gatherer art overlaid by later herder and farmer paintings spanning millennia, in a landscape with evidence of human presence stretching back 100,000 years.
