Eise Eisinga Planetarium
The world's oldest still-functioning planetarium, built by hand in his own living-room ceiling by wool comber and amateur astronomer Eise Eisinga between 1774 and 1781 in Franeker, Friesland - originally intended to reassure a public alarmed by a preacher's prediction that a planetary alignment would destroy the Earth.
