Valongo Wharf
Stone wharf in the port of Rio de Janeiro where between half a million and a million enslaved Africans were landed - the largest single arrival point of the Atlantic slave trade. Paved over and forgotten, it was dug up again during work for the 2016 Olympics, together with amulets and worship objects from Congo, Angola and Mozambique.
